The One Time FIRMWARE KEY is required for changing printers firmware.

WIC Reset Utility is used to change printers firmware in following cases:

1. Change to Chipless Firmware - it means printer will not need IC Chips on ink cartridges. Ink levels will be frozen to 100% for ever.
2. Downgrade firmware - this is required when NON ORIGINAL ink cartridges are NOT recognized by printer. This is because printers firmware has been updated from Epson server to newest firmware where not original ink cartridges are forbidden to be used. In this case You have to Downgrade firmware back to old.

I have modified the firmware of an Epson wf3620 with the firmware key to make the printer run with chipless ink cartridges. The instructions were clear but must be followed exactly in order for the process to be successful. I am very happy with the result as I have the freedom to use oem ink or not depending on my needs. I made the mistake of upgrading the firmware in my Epson XP-434. That caused my ink cartridges to not be recognized. I found this WIC Reset Utility after after searching for original firmware version. I bought the key and plugged it into the utility, and bingo 10 minutes later I was up and running. Nevermind. Did more research and to resolve the error, aside the firmware downgrade, I removed the ink, unplugged the printer, turned the printer back on, and placed the Ink's in individually pressing done after each ink. Doing this I was able to get it back up and running again. Thanks!

I own an Epson Artisan 700- Prior to buying it I never heard of the issue with the waste ink counter and epson's built in error codes that render the printer useless after reaching a certain print count. I like a lot of you searched for fixes online. I happened upon (2manuals.com) by way of youtube. I was very reluctant about using this but I also didn't have many other alternatives short of giving in to Epson and their repair method and cost or the purchase of another printer. We are interested in acquiring more resetters but we want to know if we pass the link email expired or have some time on line to be used without the expiry of the same. This is the best $9.99 I have ever spent. My much used and carefully maintained Epson R1800 stopped working shortly after the dreaded notice appeared 'Service required.......' I had always been careful to soak up the excess ink in the sponge ink reservoir and the printer was still working beautifully. Thank goodness I looked on Google for a solution and it came up with you guys, like the cavalry coming over the hill to rescue me! the reset worked perfectly and my beloved printer is once again up and running.
