Epson Stylus Photo R3000 Initialization fail

Recommended Posts

Turn the printer on, printer begins to initialize, print head starts its movements, windows software says it's connected but then the printer initialization stalls and graphic on the screen stops and the green and amber lights blink in synch. The "boot screen" animation stops at the same place every time, which is the moving dots and the words "vivid magenta". The Epson software doesn't show any ink levels but no obvious problems either. I was hoping the blinking lights of green and amber might mimic bios codes and give me a clue as to why the printer won't "boot" but even the service manual doesn't have anything that makes sense. Any advice or help appreciated.
