Chip Resetter has a light indication of the status.

Instructions for resetting Waste Ink Counters IC chips:
Perform a reset before the ink level drops to 15%;
Firmly connect the diaper cartridge chip to the Chip Resetter - the indicator will light up in red - this means there is contact between the chip and the Chip Resetter;
Hold the chip and Resetter in this state for 5-6 seconds;
After 4-5 seconds, the indicator will change its color to green - this means that the chip has been reset successfully;
If the indicator does not flash in green, it is possible that the contact is bad or the power supply elements of the resetter are faulty. In this case, unscrew the 2 screws on the back cover of the resetter, take out the 3 pill batteries and replace them with new ones.

  Good day. I have to clean my printer head EVERY hour. Then it prints fine. Until I leave it for an hour. So this leads to waste pad full and I have to purchase a key every time. Is there another way to go around this problem please? I cannot afford to buy a key every week.

You have to make 2 things
- clean parking station first - then inks will not dry on printhead;
- use high quality inks.

  I was a bit too quick to get going and installed the key into the wrong printer; hence I had to purchase another key! Anyway, the second one worked a treat and I thank you for your efforts, even if it did cost me $19.98! Raymondo

  Thrilled to bits - I thought my trusty printer was destined for the scrap heap ( although nothing wrong except it would no longer operate due to "ink pad full") and I would have to buy new, until I alighted on your product . Also if the ink pad actually causes problem tyou advise where I can buy a replacement kit and do it myself. You perform a great service to printer users. Well done!

  Very impressed! After a fruitless search for official Epson support for the Waste Ink error I found a YouTube video showing how to remove and clean the ink pads but still needed to reset the counter. After some initial "Is this unofficial 3rd Party Solution a scam?" trepidation I took a chance on the WIC reset tool and now, about half an hour (mainly spent drinking tea and waiting for the key to be emailed) and 6 quid later I have a fully functioning XP-342. In the meantime, Epson UK responded to a message I sent them on Twitter, telling me that I could send the printer away to their service centre for an unspecified period of time and pay them £48 to have the ink pads changed and the counter reset. All with a caveat that having "tampered" with the ink pads myself, the service centre might refuse to fix the printer. Thanks for a great piece of kit which has saved me a lot of time, effort and money.

  Thanks John I figured it out.. I didn\'t read things as well as I should have.. and panicked a bit. The good news is my Epson 1280 printer is up and running again thanks to your manual. George
