  It worked fine. It was just that we didn't know where to start with opening the program. I couldn't get it to install so there was an icon that took us into the whole program. I found out that if I clicked on the one icon it opened the one we needed. The service manual will be of great help for later when the ink absorption pad needs changing.   This program is a definate must have if you want to service your own printer. Using this program along with the servive manual (440,640,740) will help you to determine what the problem is. The program shows print head voltages, waste ink counter and reset, and recover print head functions just to name a few of the useful functions that this program has to offer. It returned my printer from a paperweight into a working Epson 640 in minutes. Even if your printer is working properly you can use this program ensure it will keep working. For less than $6.00 it is worth having.

  Reset key itself WORKS, hurrah! 5 stars. BUT . . . it was a struggle to get the download. Our MacBook which is a few years old does not allow the download to be installed because Apple blocks "unrecognized developers." That should be taken care of or a warning should be placed on all promotional materials related to WIC RESET KEY. I was able to get the download onto my old Apple desktop which has not had operating system updates. That's how I finally purchased the reset key. Please tell me why the whole business of the reset key, after replacing the ink pads, is not an example of contrived malicious obsolescence? I was tied up for hours, cursing the Epson company, and a breath away from buying a new printer, adding plastic waste into our environment. I liken my experience to changing a car's oil filter and then needing a code to start the car again.

  I was ready to trash my Epson 1400 but decided to give 2manuals.com a try. I purchased the usb sender tool and firmware upgrade as well. Had my printer fixed in minutes! Great work and products!
